LARC! PARADISE TOUR

This Multi Award Winning tour will take you on a journey into history over vast sandy beaches and crystal clear waters where you will experience the same magnificent beauty that greeted Lieutenant James Cook as he stepped ashore here more than two centuries ago.

  • The LARC! travels along Bustard Bay, with National parks to the left and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park to the right, across three tidal creeks and then rests on the Northern tip of Middle Island for a morning tea of cakes, biscuits, fresh fruit and cold drinks.

  • The LARC! then treks across Jenny Lind Creek and begins the scenic 4WD journey up Bustard Headland to the Bustard Head Lightstation, it was Queensland's first coastal lighthouse and stands 16 metres tall. It was built in 1868 and automated in 1986. Upon arrival at the lightstation you will hear tales of triumph and turmoil as early settlers and light keepers attempted to tame the remote wilderness that is home to the Bustard Head Lighthouse.

  • Absorb the history as our experienced tours guides take you through the restored head lightkeepers cottage while sharing an interperative dialogue about the large collection of lighthouse artifacts within. Just beyond the lighthouse is a short winding path leading to a quaint and well tended cemetary, peacefully nestled in beautiful bush surroundings.

  • Following lunch the LARC! departs, carrying you off to the towering 30m sand dunes for some sandboarding fun! Our guides will give you a quick lesson and then set you free, you can choose to stay dry or if you're feeling a little more adventurous why not skim right off the dunes splashing and skipping across the water. If you would prefer not to participate, sandboarding is a great spectator sport, you may prefer to just take a dip or do a spot of fishing.
